*CALL TO WORSHIP from Psalm
133, Book of Common Worship
Oh, how good and pleasant it is, when the community lives together in
unity!
It is like
fine oil upon the head that runs down upon the beard,
Upon the beard of Aaron, and runs down upon the
collar of his robe.
It is like the dew of heaven that
falls upon the hills of God’s city.
For there the
Lord has ordained the blessing: life
forevermore.
*HYMN # 487 When
Morning Gilds the Skies
*OLD TESTAMENT LESSON Genesis 37:1—11, Pew Bible p. 32
*CONFESSION OF WHO WE ARE on Genesis 37:9—11/wrl
Lord
God:
We often dream solitary dreams—
seeing ourselves
alone benefiting, even at others’ expense,
being held
up as others are put down.
Forgive not
only our dreams, but efforts to make them come true.
Broaden our
imaginations; better yet, our lives,
that living for the good of others, we may learn to dream their good as
well.
(time for silent, personal confession)
Amen.
*ASSURANCE OF WHOSE WE ARE & THE PEACE
As a father mothers the children, so the Lord treats those who love
him.
God takes our sins farther from us
than east is from west.
Thank
God for forgiveness given us in Jesus Christ our Lord.
The peace of our Lord Jesus
Christ be with you all.
Peace be
with you.
(worshipers exchange words and gestures of the peace of Christ)
