*CALL TO WORSHIP                                                            from Psalm 78:4, 12-16 & 38/wrl

We will not hide our story from the children.

We will tell coming generations the glorious deeds of the Lord,

                    God’s might and wonders.

In the sight of the ancestors the Lord worked marvels in the land of Egypt.

God divided the sea and let the faithful pass through it,

and made the waters stand like a heap.

In the daytime God led them with a cloud,

and all night long with a fiery light.

God split rocks open in the wilderness,

and gave the people drink abundantly as from the deep.

God made streams come out of the rock,

and caused waters to flow down like rivers.

The compassionate God forgave the sins of our ancestors,

often restraining anger, remembering they were mere flesh.

*PROCESSIONAL HYMN # 382                            Somebody’s Knocking at Your Door

*AFFIRMATION OF FAITH AND THE PEACE               Philippians 2: 5-11 (NRSV)

Let the same mind be in you that was in Christ Jesus,

who, though he was in the form

           of God,

did not regard equality with God

      as something to be exploited,

but emptied himself,

taking the form of a slave,

      being born in human likeness.

And being found in human form,

     he humbled himself

and became obedient to the point

             of death –

    even death on a cross.

Therefore God also highly

     exalted him

     and gave him the name

     that is above every name,

so that at the name of Jesus

     every knee should bend,

in heaven and on earth and

             under the earth,

and every tongue should confess

     that Jesus Christ is Lord,

to the glory of God the Father.

The peace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all.

                 Peace be with you.

(worshipers exchange gestures  and words of the peace of Christ)
