LISTENING ELDER FOR MARCH is Mike Johnson. He will be available for listening in the Narthex after the worship service March 22. Feel welcome to convey to him any matter in our congregation’s life that you would like to have passed on to the Session.

PSV PLANS SECOND MISSION TRIP – The Presbytery of Scioto Valley is planning another cooperative mission work trip to the Gulf Coast the week of October 12, 2009. Travel to Gulfport, Mississippi will take place the weekends before and after the work week. WEDNESDAYS WITH JESUS’ WOMEN FOLLOWERS - Come to the South Parlor on Wednesday, March 18 at 6:15 pm for a hot bowl of Turkey Medley soup. Though we gather at 6:15, dinner is served until we move to the Parlor for Lent Prayer at 7 p.m.  At 7:15 Dr. Lee Johnson will provide insights into “Women in Paul’s Communities” How were women perceived during the church’s earliest days? What roles did they play?  Activities for children are in the Library 7 – 8:30 p.m.

 

LENTEN SERIES CONTINUES with Dr. Lee Johnson, Methodist Theological School in Ohio. Dr. Johnson’s research examines ancient Christian texts to discover an amazing diversity among the early Christian communities. She is especially drawn to understanding both women’s life roles during this era and the sociological, historical and geographical particularity of Christian belief and practice as found in Paul’s letters.

 

March 29 stay after worship for light lunch and hear about Presbytery's 2008 Mission Trip to Gulfport, Mississippi Participants Donna Coolidge, Mike Johnson, and Carol Bessey will present a program and preview the trip planned for fall 2009—a challenge and opportunity for any to serve!  Come check it out!

 

WELLNESS COMMITTEE PRESENTS “Self Defense Tactics for Women”  Class led by Jim McMillin, Genoa Township Police Officer, takes place Saturday, April 4, 9:30 – 11 a.m.  There is no charge.  Sign-up in the church office NOW. Class size is limited to the first 16 registrants. Due to the nature of the class, it’s recommended that you wear athletic type clothing for easy movement.
