CLEAN OUT CLOSETS FOR CALDWELL!  As you ready for cold weather ahead, remember people living in Ohio’s Appalachian region who cannot afford warm clothes for winter. As part of our mission work trip to Caldwell we are collecting gently used or new coats, sweaters, gloves, hats, scarves for children, women and men.  A collection box is in the Narthex until November 5. Take this new opportunity to serve others!

REMINDER TO PICK UP PICTURE DIRECTORIES in the office Sundays or during the week.  If you did not have pictures made, you may purchase one for $6.

 

F.O.O.D. SUNDAY is November 1. Contributions go to NNEMAP (Near Northeast Emergency Material Assistance Program). They request sugar, flour, salt & pepper, pork & beans, macaroni & cheese, canned meats with pop-top lids.

 

OPEN SHELTER LUNCHES Sunday, November 1 packed by Personnel Committee.

 

FALL ADULT MISSION TRIP – Sat./Sun., November 7-8.   Travel to Caldwell, Noble County, to reach out in Christ’s love to assist southeastern Ohioans. Register in the office. An information meeting will be held in the Library Sun, Nov. 1, 5:30 p.m.

 

YOUTH FELLOWSHIP WREATH SALE -Wreaths 20 inches in diameter, with a red bow and 3 pine cones sell for $18.  Pickup on Sunday after Thanksgiving, Nov. 29.  Place an order in the Narthex Oct. 25, Nov. 1, 8 & 15. Proceeds support the 2010 Mission Trip.

YOU’RE INVITED!  Ways for churches to welcome new friends while honoring current members is an important conversation in the faith. If you’d like to join this ongoing conversation, meet in the Parlor immediately after worship Nov. 1 and 15.   Hammett & Pierce’s, Reaching People Under 40 While Keeping People Over 60 – Being Church for All Generations, guides discussion. Get a copy in the office; cost $10.  Each session led by Deb Bowsher meets for 90 minutes.  Feel free to bring a sack lunch.

 

CALLING WRITERS!!  Sign up in the office to write for Overbrook Advent Devotional. Hebrew prophets tell of Christ’s coming, his mission and work. Our devotional focuses on Isaiah, Zephaniah, Malachi and Psalms.  Deepen your experience with those authors by writing a 300 word reflection for this guide.  We provide choices of Bible passages and background on each. Reflections are due Nov. 8.  Call Deb Bowsher with questions.

FALL FESTIVAL & WALK TODAY at John Beltz Retreat Center - 3:00-7:00 p.m. All food and drinks will be provided by the CE Committee. Activities include: hiking through fall foliage, hayride, pumpkin painting/carving, scavenger hunt, crafts, Taize worship, and campfire songs with Michael Ludwig playing guitar. Bring family, neighbors and friends for an amazing outing in a lovely place.  Happy Fall ya’ all.

 

FAITH & FICTION BOOK GROUP MEETS TONIGHT at 7:00 p.m. in the Library to discuss Unaccustomed Earth by Lahiri.

 

MEN’S BREAKFAST GROUP meets Wednesday, October 28 at 7:30 a.m. at Tee Jays Country Place (Morse & High). All men are welcome.

 

SUNDAY, Nov. 1 is All Saints’ Day Communion, when we read names of our saints who have died since last November.  If you’d like a name of your beloved included in Sunday’s bulletin, email or phone the office.  Daylight Saving Time ends Oct. 31.  Turn back!
