*CALL TO WORSHIP & LIGHTING THE CHRIST CANDLE from Call to
Worship 42.1
Blowing in our lives, disturbing and rearranging,
The Spirit finds us.
Awed by the colors of sunrise and sunset,
We meet the Creator.
Seeing our fellow creatures with wings, scales and
fur,
The Creator meets us.
In the breaking of bread and the pouring of water,
We meet the Redeemer.
In our work to seek the lost and heal the hurt,
The Redeemer meets us.
As one people, we worship God—Creator, Redeemer,
Spirit.
*PROCESSIONAL HYMN # 138 Holy,
Holy, Holy! Lord God Almighty!
*AFFIRMATION OF FAITH The Nicene
Creed (Ecumenical)
We believe in one God, the Father, the Almighty, maker of
heaven and earth,
of all that is, seen and unseen.
We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only Son of
God,
eternally begotten of the Father, God from God, Light
from Light,
true God from true God, begotten, not made, of one Being
with the Father;
through him all things were made.
For us and for our salvation he came down from heaven,
was incarnate of the Holy Spirit and the Virgin Mary and
became truly human.
For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate; he
suffered death and was buried.
On the third day he rose again in accordance with the
Scriptures;
he ascended into heaven and is seated on the right hand
of the Father.
He will come again in glory to judge the living and the
dead,
and his kingdom will have no end.
We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of
life,
who proceeds from the Father (and the Son),
who with the
Father and the Son is worshiped and glorified,
who has spoken through the prophets.
We believe in one holy catholic and apostolic Church.
We acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins.
We look for the
resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come. Amen.

words and gestures of the peace of Christ)

COMMISSIONING MISSION WORK CAMPERS Book of Occasional Services
We
are called by God to be the church of Jesus Christ,
a
sign in the world today of what God intends for all humankind.
The great ends of the church are
the proclamation of the gospel for the
salvation of humankind;
the shelter, nurture, and spiritual
fellowship of the children of God;
the maintenance of divine worship; the
preservation of the truth;
the promotion of social righteousness;
and the exhibition of the Kingdom of Heaven to the world.
The
call of Christ is to willing, dedicated discipleship.
Our
discipleship is a manifestation of the new life we enter through baptism.
Discipleship
is both gift and commitment, an offering and a responsibility.
The
grace bestowed on you in baptism is sufficient to your calling
as
mission work campers at Camp Westminster, Michigan, because it is God’s grace.
By
God’s grace we are saved and enabled to grow in the faith
and
to commit our lives in ways that serve Christ.
Show
your purpose by again answering the questions of discipleship….
Do
you, members of Overbrook, confirm the call of God to our brothers and sisters
as
mission work campers in the service of Jesus Christ?
