COLLEGE STUDENTS NEED YOUR HELP – Do you care about what’s going on with Presbyterian students at OSU?  A new coalition of six Presbyterian churches in our area is trying to fill the current void of ministry for our OSU students.  We are currently looking for a second representative from Overbrook to volunteer with the Presbyterian Campus Ministry Coalition.  Volunteering entails attending monthly Coalition meetings, and helping schedule continued programming of campus ministry.  There are no age or alumni qualifications.  We simply need someone who cares about OSU students and wants to encourage their faith development through the college years.  If you’re interested or would like more information, please contact Pastor Ludwig.

AMERICAN RED CROSS BLOOD BUS comes to Overbrook parking lot, Monday, May 3 from 12:00 – 6:00 p.m.  To make an appointment to donate blood, call the office at 261-1040 or Preschool office at 261-1029.

MARK YOUR CALENDAR FOR MISSION!  Overbrook has several upcoming opportunities for further serving God’s mission.  Look at your calendars now to see if you can be available for our 2nd annual weekend mission-trip to Caldwell, OH, the weekend of Aug. 14.  Also, our Presbytery’s annual mission work trip goes to Beckley, WV this year on Oct. 9-16.

WE LEARN

Leety. You are always welcome to join us.

HEALTHY COOKING WITH YOUR CHILDREN (4 years and older) – Thursday, May 13 @ 5:30 p.m. You don’t have to have a child to participate – just one in heart and spirit. with your kids. Cost is free. A light meal will be served before class begins. Sign-up

in the church office to reserve your seat. Space is limited so sign-up today!

WE GATHER

CONVERSATION TIME AFTER WORSHIP – Join us in the Chapel if you’d like to talk more about anything from the worship service. This week you may want to consider:

·       “In Reformed theology, atheism is not the problem.  Idolatry is.  The Reformed faith has argued, with Calvin, following Augustine, that every person knows God.” writes Jack Rogers (Presbyterian Creeds).  Do you think Thomas knows God? If so, what do you think Thomas knows of God?

·       John’s gospel shows Jesus dealing with a disciple’s doubt.  How would you like Jesus or others to deal with your doubt, if you have doubt?

·       Jesus said to Thomas, “….  Do not doubt but believe.”  In me it’s not doubt or believe,

but doubt and believe—like the tides, always in motion, ebb and flow depending on “signs.”  How do doubt and believe work or play in you?

NEW BEGINNINGS, a group for all singles, meets today, in the South Parlor for potluck lunch immediately following worship.

OVERBROOK’S MEN’S SOFTBALL TEAM opens defense of their 3-peat church league championship on Monday, April 19 at 6:15 p.m. at Whetstone Diamond #2. Come out and see us go for 4. We thank Knapp Veterinary Hospital for helping sponsor our team.

YOUNG ADULT CAMP OUT – Saturday, May 15, at the John Beltz Retreat. Tents, campfires, s’mores, corn-hole and fun times; what more could you ask for?  Get the word out to your young adults and young at heart. Contact Pastor Ludwig if interested.

SAVE THE DATE!! At its February meeting, Session received Jon Siehl’s letter of resignation from active ministry effective May 31, 2010.  To celebrate his many years of service to Christ and to Overbrook’s ministry and mission, Personnel and Session are planning a luncheon in his honor to be held following worship on May 23, 2010. It will be our opportunity to formally say thank you to Jon and Judy and we hope you will be able to attend.

OVERBROOK PRESCHOOL holds its Annual Art Show and Open House, Sunday, April 25, from 1 to 3 p.m. Activities include a large display of children’s art, hands-on art activities, sing-a-longs, and children’s entertainment.  In addition to the fun and lively activities, there will be a Silent Auction of themed baskets. Proceeds from the auction provide scholarships in memory of Michael Breschi and funding for the Arts in the Preschool Program to bring artists into the preschool for special art activities.
