April. Since 2000 Jeri Platt, member of
Glen Echo Presbyterian Church, has traveled annually, and travels this month,
to Haiti to assist in medical mission in a village in Haiti. Her paintings depict the poverty and wealth she
sees in people she meets in this mission.
Brochure in the Parlor contains an artist’s statement and listing of the
paintings on display.
CONVERSATION TIME AFTER WORSHIP - Would you like to hear other’s thoughts about
faith in light of the service today, and think more about your own response? You’re invited to step into the Chapel after
the service for Conversation Time After Worship
for an opportunity for worshipers to share what the service has placed on their
hearts and minds, and discuss their questions. The chapel is set aside
for these conversations for about half an hour after worship. Here are
some questions that may prompt our conversations this week:
After Peter’s outburst (that sounded more
like a hallucination), Luke says, “they kept silent and told no one.” When,
why and to whom do you tell your sublime experiences with God? Or, why do
you keep silent?
This passage contrasts the Son of the God
sparkling in the clouds with the son of the man begging for healing from torment.
Some disciples had a failed experience with healing and some heard the hard
words, “This is my Son… listen.” Is it
more difficult being a disciple on the mount of holiness or in the mire of the
daily grind? Or are they about the same?
WE
GIVE
LET’S GO KROGERING! Every little bit counts! Do you

your Kroger Plus Reward Points in any way, so it is harmless to you but could
be very helpful to the Church. You can
sign up to participate on the internet at http:// www.krogercommunityrewards.com.
You must have a Kroger Plus Shoppers card to register and participate so get
yours out and sign up to participate now. If
you do not have access to the online sign-up method, please
call 1-800-837-4483 to learn about the alternative sign-up method. We will soon
have a link on the Church web site, www.overbrookchurch.org,

OUR WEDNESDAY LENT SERIES starts February 24
and runs through March 24. Soup suppers served at 6:15 p.m. in the South
Parlor will be followed by a presentation and study on Isaiah by Dr. Paul Kim,
Professor at The Methodist Theological School of
Ohio. Dr. Kim’s expertise is in Old Testament
prophetic literature and Biblical Theology. His presentations will explore issues of
redemption, justice, lament and how we can use the lens of film to make sense
of these topics during our Lenten journey. Please come and join us for soup,
conversation, and interesting presentations. Consider it one of
your Lent habits in preparation for Easter! Soup
is served beginning at 6:15 until 7 p.m., so if you can’t arrive until 6:40 a
place at the table, and a bowl of hot soup are still yours. From 7 to 7:15 we have evening prayer in the
Parlor. Presentations and studies are 7:15 to 8:15.
