*CALL TO WORSHIP from Psalm 118
Hosanna
to God in the highest heaven!
Save
us, we beseech you, O LORD!
Blessed is the one who comes in the name of the LORD.
Save us, we beseech you, O LORD!
O give thanks to the LORD, for he is good; his steadfast
love endures forever!
Save us, we beseech you, O LORD!
*PROCESSIONAL HYMN # 89 Hosanna, Loud Hosanna
*PRAYER OF CONFESSION Judy Dahl
Let us confess how much we
are like the people of Jerusalem at that first Palm Sunday.
Tender and compassionate Savior,
We confess that we are more concerned
with how you will serve our needs
than with how you might use us to serve the needs of others.
We confess that we are often as fickle
as the people of Jerusalem
who traded in their palm branches for a cross.
We confess that we would much prefer to
have the bright sunshine of Easter,
and it's joyous celebrations, without the quiet sadness of Good Friday
with its images of pain and loneliness.
Forgive us for our indifference to those
who still must endure
sadness, loneliness, and rejection.
And help us to take up our crosses and
follow you to where they are.
(time
for silent, personal confession) Amen.
*ASSURANCE OF WHOSE WE ARE & THE PEACE from 1 Peter 2:24
Remember the Good News that Jesus is our King and Savior;
“He himself bore our sins in his body on the cross,
so that, free from sins, we might live
for righteousness;
by
his wounds we have been healed.”
Hosanna
to God in the highest!
The peace of our Lord Jesus Christ, who was and is and
is to come, be with you all.
Peace be with you.
(worshipers share
words and gestures of the peace of Christ)
