Lenten Study Series

Lenten Presentation Series

Dr. Paul Kim on the prophet Isaiah, Wednesdays in Lent
February 24, March 3, 10, 17 & 24

Soup suppers served at 6:15 p.m. in the South Parlor will be followed by a brief prayer service at 7:00 and, at 7:15, a presentation and study on Isaiah by Dr. Paul Kim, Professor at The Methodist Theological School of Ohio.  Dr. Kim's expertise is in Old Testament prophetic literature and Biblical Theology.  His presentations will explore issues of redemption, justice, lament and how we can use the lens of film to make sense of these topics during our Lent journey.

The series topics are:

February 24:  "Prophetic Call and Message" - Dr. Kim (Isaiah 6)

March 3:  "Exile and Hope" - Dr. Kim (Isaiah 35)

March 10:  "Faith and Action" - Bible Study Discussion (Isaiah 7)

March 17:  "Radical Concepts on Justice" - Bible Study Discussion (Isaiah 56)

March 24:  "Lament to Promise" - Dr. Kim (Isaiah 49)

(Consider reading the passages listed with each topic in preparation for each evening's presentation.)

Please come and join us for soup, conversation, and interesting presentations.  Consider it one of your Lent habits in preparation for Easter!  Supervised care for children will be provided in the nursery.

Soup Supper

Though you are welcome to arrive at 7:00 for the prayer service or at 7:15 for the lecture, you are also welcome to join our informal soup suppers which run from 6:15 to 7:00 each Wednesday evening in the South Parlor.  Following the supper is a simple prayer service at 7:00 in the Parlor with the presentations starting at 7:15.

Come.  Enjoy this Lenten experience.  And please, bring a friend!
