Garden Cross

Worship

As a people of God, we claim to have been encountered by the risen Christ, the living Word of God.  In our worship, we seek and worship the Holy God to whom the Bible bears witness.  We celebrate Baptism as a sacrament of belonging, and the Lord's Supper as a table of spiritual food.

Sunday Morning Worship Services

10:00 a.m. The Contemporary Worship Service
We call this gathering "contemporary" because it's another of our efforts to bring each other the timeless message of Jesus in a new understandable way.  This worship connects the strengths of our church, good music and thought provoking messages, with a more informal style, comprised of worship band music and audio/visual elements.  Come join us as we gather to worship God honestly and deeply - joining the Psalmist, both in singing "a new song" and in remembering God's faithfulness to us "through all generations."

11:00 a.m. The Traditional Worship Service
We call this service "traditional" because it calls upon the deep yet ever-changing traditions of the church.  We listen for God to speak in the written Word, the Bible, and in the interpreted Word of preaching.  We respond to God's word with prayer and offering, praise and thanks, Baptism and the Lord's Supper.  We worship God with congregational hymns, choral anthems and music from the pipe organ, piano, hand bells and other instruments.  And reminded of God's grace, we depart to serve the world God loves charged to obedience and blessed with Christ's promised presence.

Special Worship Services

We worship other times in other ways.  Making public our marriage promises, we gather for weddings.  Commending to God those of our company as they die, we gather to witness to Christ's promise of reunion among God's beloved.  Marking days and seasons in the church calendar we gather for Christmas, Ash Wednesday, Wednesdays in Lent, and Maundy Thursday.
